Submitter: Sold as fentanyl in March, 2015 from China, purchased online. Expected to be : N/A, fentanyl I guess. If this is indeed fentanyl, please try and let me know what kind: IE: Acetyl-fentanyl, Fentanyl-HCl, Fentanyl Citrate, or other?

EcstasyData: We are checking with the lab, but we believe this is fentanyl (not acetyl-fentanyl). The GC/MS process does not easily differentiate different salts forms (HCl versus Citrate), so that information is not available.
Note
The lab spent time today on the question of the different salts of fentanyl variants. The lab is not able to tell the difference between fentanyl citrate versus fentanyl HCl.

They can conclusively differentiate between fentanyl and acetyl fentanyl, which are considered to be different drugs. The salt anions are not easy to identify with normal techniques and there's no practical method that we know of to do the differentiation.
